The Misleading Value of Testimonials
Testimonials are a poor method for selecting an alternative cancer treatment because:
- Cancer is such a common disease and so many people are using alternative cancer treatments that even a treatment with a 5% success rate can generate a bunch of testimonials.
- They don't contain the successes as well as the failures.
- The impressiveness of a testimonial often depends more on the writing skill of the writer than the quality of the treatment.
- Just because a treatment worked for a person does not mean it will work for you. This is especially true of alternative cancer treatments which seem to be very sensitive to a person's unique body chemistry.
Use testimonials to bolster your believe in the treatment after you have selected the treatment using a better selection method. The emerging field of energy medicine now provides methods of treatment selection that takes you unique body chemistry and energy into account. These include biofeedback, electrodermal testing, and a method you can perform yourself, muscle testing.

I had a radical prostectomy in November 1998. My PSA was 10.0 and readings subsequent fluxuated from 0.2 to 0.1 and back. I started taking the protocol in January 1999. That included the Cancell, Immunol, Enzengonel Bromaline, B17, and Apricot seeds.
It was recommended by the Radiation Oncologist that I take external beam radiation treatments as well. So starting in May and continuing for seven weeks, five days a week, I took that treatment as well. Half way through the radiation treatment my PSA was measured as undetectable. Another PSA reading taken in Mid September was also "undetectable".
My current protocol is as follows. In the morning one hour before eating, I take
1/2 tsp of Cancell,
2 - 750 mg Alko-Mar tablets (Life Plus product replacing immunol),
1 - 500 mg Somazyme tablet (Life Plus product containing various enzymes),
1 - 100 mg B17.
I repeat this at bed time.
Mid Day I take all but the Cancell. I also eat 25 to 30 apricot seeds per day. You will have to talk to Dr. Dowless about what each of these ingredients does. I believe these dosages were recommended for cancer prevention rather than cancer curing.
I have experienced no bad side effects. Actually taking the protocol along with the Cancell has improved my digestive system. I can eat pretty much anything without upsetting my stomach. I also have experienced less susceptibility to catching colds and the flue. My office came down with the flu last fall and I was the only one not to catch it. This may all be in my head, but it has been my experience.
The only bad effect from the Cancell is it stains your teeth. Greg, maybe you can get them to encapsulate this sometime down the road. I do use a small amount of Ocean Spray Cranberry juice to mask the flavor. I am told, these products are all pretty much natural and for nine months I have experienced no bad side effects.

Early of 1997 I felt increasingly weak and went for a general medical check up in April 1997. A CatScan showed a tumor on my left kidney; an additional US scan found blood vessel in the tumor as proof of a cancerous tumor. The recommended treatment: surgical removal of the kidney, because kidney cancer can't be treated with radiation or chemotherapy.
Before I intended to consider surgery as recommended, I wanted to know my alternatives. For that reason I searched the Internet for alternative cancer treatments. This forum was my first contact to alternative medicine and I found here tremendous support and information, which literally changed my life. The first contact I got was Humanitarian Organization of People for Entelev (H.O.P.E.). I got the telephone number of 4 people which had kidney cancer, like me. These four people told me basically the same story. All four had undergone surgery. All had metastases some time after their surgery. All were then treated with chemo and radiation, but all their cancers continued to progress, thus conventional medicine gave up.
All four of them then found Cancell and were cured or got into remission.
One of the four persons I spoke to, is a lady from Pennsylvania. She is so thankful for here cure by Cancell, that she celebrates every fall on her property a Cancell picnic where cancer survivors get together and report about their story and exchange experiences, mainly with Cancell. These reports were so convincing to me, that I immediately started my own cancer treatment with Cancell.
In May 1997, a couple of weeks after my cancer diagnosis I traveled to Germany and reported to an old friend of mine, an internist, about my cancer and prescribed Cancell treatment. He declared this stuff as snake oil and recommended consulting with a well-known kidney specialist, so I did. This urologist conducted his own examination and came to the same conclusion as his American counterpart: surgery as the choice of treatment. So I finally did agree and my surgery was scheduled in Germany for the end of May 1997. But in the meantime I did continue to search the Internet for further information and/or help. I found that the best-respected surgeon for kidney cancer is Dr. Novick of the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland. He is - according to my search results - the only surgeon whom - whenever possible - only removes the cancerous part of the kidney and not the entire kidney.
So I contacted Dr.Novick and he accepted my case. So I canceled the surgery in Germany. Dr.Novick's examination confirmed exactly the previous ones. But he told me he thought he probably could manage to save the kidney and only remove the cancer. The surgery had been scheduled for July 17th. When I met with Dr. Novick three days before the surgery for the final preparations I was feeling already much better due to my Cancell treatment, so we discussed a cancellation of that surgery as well.
Dr.Novick's response was very candid, he said, for the surgery to be successful the patient must be convinced this is the best treatment and willing to cooperate. But of these I was not convinced anymore. I found Dr.Novick's attitude and decision very responsible and remarkable.
The next CatScan in December '97 showed - according to Dr.Novick - no change and we decided to take a wait and see approach. All the time I took Cancell very faithful every 6 hours. Toni Bell has been of great help for me. What I learned about Cancell from Toni was matching my own experience and made me feel better, in particular during times of anxiety and fatigue, this does happen.
The next CatScan should have been taken mid summer 1998, but I felt so and normal by this time, that I didn't care. But for safety sake I wonted to know whether my kidney cancer was gone or not. So I went for a CatScan in October 1998. I received a letter from Dr.Novick in which he expressed his congratulation for the result, saying: no change, no reason for a surgery anymore. I was relieved, but the answer was not satisfying to me, because I didn't know whether I still had the cancer - perhaps dormant - or not.
In August 1999 I got a strange and very rare skin disease that has been diagnosed as "Sweet's Syndrome". In order to find possible connections to other, existing health problems, the hospital where I was conducted a thorough examination, in particular in regards to my reported kidney cancer.
An extensive US Scan has been made. The radiologist discussed afterwards her findings with me. She declared that they couldn't find any tumor or cancer.
But she said that they found at my left kidney scar tissue, probably at the areas where the cancer had been.
This final result gives me great relief and the medical confirmation that Cancell has cured my cancer.
I would be happy to share my experience and my documented data with others, interested in order help cancer people in need.
Final remarks:
Without the Internet - and in particular the CompuServe Natmed Forum - I certainly would have today one kidney less and a lot more problems.
Without the determination to take my own health matters in my own hand, in particular the responsibility for it, I wouldn't have found and taken Cancell that cured my cancer.

Scott's Cure
Dear Paul,
Thank you for creating this site. I spoke with Marian recently on the phone, she forwarded 13 testimonials to us. We would like to add Scott's story to this web site.
My name is Judy Potrykus, My husband Paul and I are writing on behalf of our 7 yr.. old son; Scott.
Shortly after Scott's 4th birthday (Sep. 1996) we noticed he was having weird day dream mumbling spells. My oldest sister is an ER doctor and advised us to bring him in immediately . He was diagnosed with seizures stemming from his left temporal lobe (in his speech center). Subsequent MRI testing concluded that the seizures were coinciding with a low grade astrocytoma ( a slow growing cancerous tumor ). He underwent more testing and the and the neuro-psychologist confirmed that he tested below average in communication skills, though he ranked above average in all other areas.
The medical team told us "Our child as we know him was no longer an option to us". Their best treatment involved resective brain surgery including a painful brain flap grid to map speech areas and a small program of Chemo. The risks were large and they could not be sure if he would be able to communicate after the surgery. My sister confirmed our fear; this may only be a delay of the tumor growth, since most astrocytomas reoccur within 5 years. We prayed endlessly and believed that the traditional medical treatment should be our last resort for Scott. Miraculously people we didn't even know saw Scott's name on a prayer list and started us looking at alternative medicine. The HOPE group here in Michigan is a fantastic group of people and Tony Bell has been an endless resource for us. We postponed the surgery and started Scott on Cancell in Dec of '96. I took the Cancell with Scott since I was afraid that as a four year old he might not be able to tell me any side effects. The doctors were puzzled by us as we were not jumping to surgery. Our Oncologist was afraid of her colleagues disdain for alternative Medicine and told us as long as it wasn't toxic she wouldn't object but didn't want to know about it. We were afraid of losing medical support by not following their protocol. I prayed that God would show us a way to gain 3 more months on Cancell to see if Scott improved without alienating our doctors. The next day our patient advocate called to tell us that the head Neurologist on our team was going on a 3 month sabbatical to China and would we like to wait for her return. Sometimes God answers prayer quickly! Upon her return Scott was subjected to more tests. There was no tumor growth. We had virtually weaned him off of the epilepsy medicine with no seizures, and his neuro psychology report showed that his communication skills had improved and caught up to his other intellectual capabilities. Praise God!! The head of Radiology spoke candidly with my sister (doc to doc) and advise that we just monitor him with MRI's every 6 months, which is what we have done for 3 years. Scott recently turned 7, is a young 2nd grader and doing super in School. After his last MRI this Spring of 99 the Head of Neurology told us " we worry to much " that he thinks Scott just has scar tissue and he will monitor him yearly. We still keep him on Cancell through the day but no longer wake him at night for a dose. We haven't continued the Bromalain, but have cleaned up our food to be mostly organic. We are grateful daily for our son. His brother and sister don't need to pamper him. His life is that of a regular child. Over the last Three years we have talked to many people with children who have suffered greatly, families who have suffered under "traditional" medical care. Does anyone tell them Chemotherapy is experimental? That some"medical " clinical trials with Chemo allow them to judge the maximum dose by the test group that it kills? Families as far away as Israel have called looking for a better hope for their child. We have seen God use Cancell to work miracles for people. Our prayer is that the suffering and medical torture of many cancer patients will stop. It is amazing how our bodies can heal with the right treatment. Thank you for your time.

I have not been on line for a while, My father had a tumer on his lung that had taken ten years to grow, and was in the advanced stage, when first discovered the doctor in charge did not hold out much hope for him I felt not living near my father I was not helping much , in a way it was easy to avoid what my father and mother were having to deal with , with no immediate support. One night I felt I had to do more , so I searched the internet and found Dr G. Dowless, I read through the material and telephoned him from London England within hours of a message being sent, Dr Dowless contacted me, within days we had a programme in place, all (100% )of what Dr Dowless had said had been carried out I knew there were no gaurentees, though my gut feeling was to completly trust dr Dowless, if we had half a chance I knew it would be with Dr Dowless. That was back in August 98 , now in June 99 after all the results and scans were in .. The Lyph glands are completly clear there is no sign what so ever anywhere on the scans of a tumor or growth of any kind, there is some scaring at the top of the lung, but what the hell.
Mabye it was done through Dr Dowless as opposed to by him, I don't know, I do know that the energy and positive feeling I took from Dr Dowless carried through to my father and mother We will keep the programme up for as long as we feel is wise.

Irene Sauriol 11/99: How I Survived Lung Cancer
The summer and early fall of 1996 were rather disquieting for me. I had developed a persistent dry nonproductive cough, arthritic symptoms in my knees, a heavy feeling in my left leg, and by October my fingernails were bowed and began to look a little like claws. I was lacking my usual level of energy and felt tired much of the time.
In early November I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma Sage III in my left lung. I had stopped smoking 15 years prior and to hear the dreaded word "Cancer" was almost like a death sentence.
After a family meeting with the doctors at Macomb Hospital we decided to seek a second opinion and went to the Karmanos Cancer Center at the Detroit Medical Center. After a thorough examination it was determined that the tumor, which had now grown from the size of a golf ball to about the size of a baseball, should be removed surgically. The procedure was scheduled for three days after Christmas.
What had promised to be a rather simple operation resulted in the entire left lung being removed. The tumor had apparently wrapped itself around the aorta and the bronchia and was located between the upper and lower lobes and the lymph nodes were also affected. It was also necessary to remove one rib. It was not felt that chemo or radiation were required.
By March, 1997 I felt well enough to take a trip south and began to play a little golf again. The summer months were great but about September many of the old symptoms reappeared.
My regular checkup in September revealed a growth in the right lung. This seemed to astound the doctors because they did not believe it to be a metastasis but rather another primary tumor. Because they could not do a long needle biopsy for fear of collapsing the lung it was decided to wait a month or so to see if the mass enlarged.
I was particularly distressed because the prior May I had started using Essiac tea as a preventive and it apparently had no effect in spite of its positive history.
In late December I heard about Cancell and started taking it in January although I knew very little about it. I had not had an opportunity to go to the meetings or hear any testimonials. When it was determined that the best protocol would be to start chemo and radiation in February I was in no position to argue - I didn't feel I had any options.
I did take both chemo and radiation starting in February of 1998. By March I could no longer tolerate the treatments. The tumor was still about 3 x 2-1/2 centimeters, having shrunk from 1 - 1/2 x 3 centimeters. However I felt so ill that I did not think I would see my 70th birthday if I continued.
Needless to say my oncologist was very upset with me but I told him I had an alternate therapy which I had been taking during my treatments and which I was now willing to trust and told him about Cancell. He wanted me to continue to see him for checkups for which I was very appreciative.
Six months after I stopped treatment I was informed that all that appeared to be left was scar tissue. I was feeling good and all of the symptoms had disappeared. I was gaining my strength back and was able to resume most activities though on a limited scale.
When I commented to my doctor that the Cancell seemed to be doing its job, he said that it must have been the residual effects of the chemo and radiation that resulted in the healing.
One of the effects of the medication which caused me to go into emergency with heart palpitations after my initial surgery, along with the residue of the radiation, has resulted in my having to have a pacemaker and go on medication to control heart palpatations. At no time was I told that radiation could affect my heart - but I feel fortunate in that I did not experience any burning and I largely attribute this to taking Cancell during radiation and chemo.
In addition to the Cancell I am also now taking the apricot kernels or B17 (also known as Laetrile or Amygdalin). In his book, "A World Without Cancer", Mr. G. Edward Griffin explains in graphic terms the benefits all humanity could receive by using B17.
B17 can be obtained from seeds of apricots, peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries, berries and apples. It is also found in lima beans, bean sprouts,millet and many other foods.
Doctors who have been working with B17 for many years believe that cancer is a deficiency disease aggravated by the lack of as essential food compound in our diet. While most doctors and scientists continue to look for a method of treating cancer few believe that there is deficiency that causes cancer.

Libby's Story
My name is Libby and DMSL has been on me for some time to tell my story. So, this is for you ...........I am a 35 year old Registered Nurse and mother of three. In November of 1994, I delivered a beautiful baby girl after a very traumatic birth that almost took both of our lives. The lord was watching over us and gave me another chance at life and gave my daughter a new start.
Within two weeks of delivery, we were Christmas shopping and I started to feel off balance and thinking it was my imagination I mentioned to my husband in a rather joking manner, that if he needed to take me to the emergency room for any reason, tell them I recently delivered a child in a very traumatic fashion. I was referring to the possibility that maybe I had a blood clot or aneurysm that had developed secondary to the birth.
I had just taken a new job in January working midnights at University of Michigan......this is what has prevented me from doing this earlier, my son just called and I have to go pick him up.........stay tuned for the rest of the story.
I have gotten some comments from an individual that was upset about my not having the time to finish this letter. I want to comment on that. For you John......, I would like you to know that talking about this is something I would like to put behind me. This was not an easy thing to go through. When people call me, it stirs all these feelings of that time in my life that I would like to forget. Some my choose not to talk to them but I do, and the reason I do, is because I was in their shoes.I have talked to individuals for hours on the telephone from all over the world, including a call that came at 3am from a terrified family overseas. I never turn them away, I tell them my whole story. As for my schedule here lately.......my son was in a car accident and we are undergoing several Dr's appointments and tests. I had surgery only three weeks ago myself, in which the Dr's want me off my feet. My youngest son is in a christian band that he has practiced every day for the last 2 years and finally....got his first public appearance on Friday of ast week. We had alot of preparation.....getting T-shirts made up and hats, signs, stickers, etc. Then I have a wonderful little girl that just turned 5 yesterday (a day I was told by Dr's I wouldn't see, thank you Jesus). We had a big family party and Tuesday we have her and her friends getting together for a party and going to see the silly Pokemen movie. My son will be 18 on Thursday requiring another big party. Thanksgiving is thrown in there somewhere with Christmas peeking out behind it. All the while, I am working to support this wonderful family. I was given a second chance at life and a diagnosis such as mine, very quickly aligns ones priorities, mine is my family.
For those others that have encouraged me................
Where did we leave off..... I was working nights and found out quickly that it was a bad shift for me, I couldn't sleep during the day. I was so tired I didn't know which end was up and when I started having jerking of my left hand, it was so brief I had to decide if it was my imagination due to no sleep. It escalated to a degree in September that brought me out of denial and into the Dr.'s office. I was sent into this medical whirlwind and knocked on my rear end when they told me I had a grade 4 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. I would not live very long. I went through surgery and 8 weeks of radiation therapy at U of M. I was added into a study with 25 patients with the same diagnosis. Our treatment was 2 weeks longer than the usual dose of radiation. I would put that mask on and lay there hearing what I imagined to be shooting of the cancer cells. I imagined that they were being destroyed from the radiation, one at a time.
A nurse and coworker recommended Cancell for me during the radiation. I read all the material and decided against it due to the large doses of vitamin C I had chosen to take after reading about its great affects on the "C" word. When I returned home after radiation my family Dr. was asking me what they said, and I said they said I have 2 years to live. He said "Did you tell them to go to hell?" I said pretty much. (Another story in itself. I will tell you about it if you want to know, I believe its part of the reason I am here.) He too told me about Cancell and all the success stories he had seen. This was not "just" my family Dr., I had worked at the hospital he practices at, so I knew him on a business level as well. He got me numbers to call and that all got me into Cancell, Pancreatic Enzyme and Bromelain after talking to Ollie, Tony and several of the survivors. That was in January of 1996. I have been on it every day since then and I, praise the Lord, would have never had a life. Thank you again Lord - I am one of them.

Mark Prosin's Story
In May of '97 I had an egg size tumor on the right side in my neck. It could not be removed completely by surgery. Also the primary was unknown. I had chemo, 5fu and cisplatin along with 30 radiation treatments. In Oct.of '97 I was told I was cured. All scans were clear. I asked about the unknown primary and was told since it was so small or undetectable the chemo had to kill it. In Oct. of "98 I felt there was something wrong again, this time on the left side of my neck.The doctors said no. There are no lumps etc, it is the affects of radiation, the hardness. You are just getting nervous. I persisted and wanted a ct scan. The scan showed a tumor. The docters said I have a 6th sense, there is no way I could of known this, no pain etc. I had surgery and closed me back up and said I had 6 months to live. The tumor was attached to the carodid artery. A by pass was very risky because the right artery was heavily radiated,they felt it would not be able to hold when they did the by pass. I could go brain dead, be paralysed or die on the table. I said I'll take the chance. Well I survived with some problems.After that I had radiation implants for 5 days.
All went well and I was so happy to be alive. In May they thought the cancer came back. I lost 80% of the blood flow on my left side. They said a tumor was probably pressing against the by passed artery. There was no tumor, it was the affects of radiation. A stint was placed to increase the blood flow. In August a lump appeared again, a ct showed mets to the lymph nodes. I was given 5 months to live. I was lucky to find out about Cancell through my guarding angel Becky. Its a long story about that. My nodes decreased by Cancell and I am doing quite well. It's been 7 months and my docters are very surprised that I am still here. So I know Cancell works. you can imagine what I think about chemo and radiation, doctors saying I am cured in '97 etc. I am so grateful to Becky, Tony Bell, the doctors on this web site and all the help and support we give each other. When to Use Testimonials
Testimonials can be a very powerful tool to help in the healing process because they can boost your belief in a treatment. However, reading testimonies is a poor method of making a treatment selection. An alternative cancer treatment with only a 5% success rate can still obtain many genuine and impressive testimonials. A selected group of positive testimonials cannot compare to a study were all of the case histories are presented, the failures as well as the successes. Only then can you have a significant impression of effectiveness.
