It seems clear, that the "Important Notice" on WebND is mostly about this web site alternativecancer.us. After reading that notice, I am sure you are wondering why WebND would criticize a web site which promotes a product they sell. Keep in mind that:
- Web sites that sell supplements are not allowed to make medical claims unless the claims are approved by the FDA.
- There are no FDA approved medical claims for Protocel. This is typical for alternative cancer treatments.
- alternativecancer.us has about 30 pages of text that relate to the medical benefits of Protocel.
- Only web sites that do not sell a supplement can report on the medical benefits that supplement.
A web site like alternativecancer.us which presents so much evidence of medical benefit for Protocel is a tremendous boost to a distributor, but only if there is a link to that distributor. For years, I linked to WebND because they were the only Protocel distributor authorized by the manufacturer. During that time, I complained bitterly about the misconduct of WebND. Finally, a second distributor was authorized.
Trying to Get Ride of WebND
It was only after I had proven that WebND had allowed dangerous information to persist on their web site despite multiple requests to fix it, that another distributor Vitamin Depot** was authorized. I immediately removed my links to WebND from my web site and replaced them with links to Vitamin Depot. I believe this caused WebND to lose significant income. Sometime after that, the "Important Notice" appeared. I found out about it near the end of January 2008 and published this reply.
Objectional WebND Information
The following is just one example of the WebND information to which I objected and which I used to have another distributor authorized. This information remained on the Protocel.com web site for almost two years despite repeated requests from me and my friends to correct it. If you go to the web archive pages whose links are below and search for selenium. you will find this statement:
"Your vitamin C should not exceed 100 mg, vitamin E should not exceed 32 iu, Co enzyme Q10 should not exceed 60 mg, Selenium should not exceed 60 mg."
60 mg of selenium is a toxic dose for a cow.

http://web.archive.org/web/20041108090644/http://www.protocel.com/ (click Usage and search for Selenium on the resultant page)The developer of Cancell stated that people should not take any supplements that contained vitamin C, vitamin E, Co enzyme Q10, or Selenium. Why a distributor thought he should list these values only becomes clear if you knew of the Vita-Pro vitamins and minerals that the distributor was trying to sell as part of a "Protocel Package." Perhaps it would have been a bit too expensive for WebND to have vitamin and minerals truly formulated to work with Protocel, but it would have been an excellent service. I believe that due to outside pressure (much of it caused by me), WebND has finally stopped putting their Vita-Pro vitamins and minerals with their Protocel Packages, but for years they included Vita-Pro with their Protocel Packages demonstrating a tremendous ignorance or lack of concern for their customers.
On http://www.webnd.com/protocel.php the information page for Protocel on WebND there is no list of supplements that will interfere with Protocel. On my Protocel page, right above the lists of things that conflict with Protocel, I have this notice:
Before you order, decide if you are willing to stop taking any of the substances that interfere with Protocel. If you are not willing to stop taking those things, ordering Protocel might be a waste of money.
Could the reason why WebND does not list the conflicting items be a lack of concern for their customers? I think their refund policy near the bottom of this page sheds light on this question.
The New Distributor
Vitamin depot is a small two-person operation. If you seek additional information there, you will talk to Dr. Cassidy, a naturopathic doctor.
The Old Distributor WebND
The new distributor is a tremendous improvement over WebND. Previously, when you contacted WebND, you would talk to Bob Esh who has:
- No medical training.
- A demonstrated lack of concern for accuracy.
- A track record of selling things that conflict with Protocel and calling them a Protocel pack.
The Important Notice Section by Section
The following subsections use the same section heading as The Important notice and point out inaccuracies and errors.
Renewal & Wellness is an authorized distributor of Protocel
"an increasing number of websites and individuals are claiming to be an authority on the Protocel formula even though they have had little or no experience with it" I can't believe that this statement from Renewal & Wellness (the company that runs the WebND web site) is directed at the pages on alternativecance.us about Protocel. It must be directed at other web pages about Protocel. However, most web pages about Protocel take their information from alternativecancer.us I have never objected to this and you will notice that there are no copyright notices on my web pages. Whenever anyone asks if they can use my information, I always give permission.I have run a web page on Cancell-like supplements since 1998 this was even before Protocel was on the market. At that time it was called the Cancell Home page and still exists on handpen.com/Cancell/cancell.htm as a link to the new web site. My information comes from:
- Books I have read including "The Cancell Controversy"
- Conversations with authorities on the subject such as Louise B. Trull the author of "The Cancell Controversy"
- The NCI tests for Cancell which I obtained directly from NCI and analyzed on alternativecancer.us/testr.htm
- The hundreds of case histories I obtained from people asking how to order Cancell (I asked people to email me if they wanted to order Cancell and then asked if I could contact them to learn their progress) in this way I obtained their emails address and case histories.
- The analysis of those case histories which can be found on alternativecancer.us/effectivity.htm
- The Protocel chemist advisor who has been kind enough to answer questions when my other sources failed.
I do not claim to be an authority on alternative cancer treatments, but Bill Henderson who has written three books on the subject introduced me on his radio show as the man who knows more about alternative cancer treatments than anyone he knows. I have written about alternative health since 1989. If you copy my Protocel page and paste it into a standard MS Word file without formatting but remove the table of contents, it takes up 18 pages (this does not include the How Protocel Works pages, the comments on the NCI test of Cancell pages, the Cancell Effectiveness Study pages, or the antioxidant pages). If you do the same thing with the Protocel information on the WebND it takes up four pages. My writting is not wordy, it is just full of information. As an example of my work I took the developer's explanation for how Protocel works (then called Entelev) and summarized it. In its original form, it was 5,800 words. My summary was 700 words and containes the same information.
Cancell or Cancell-Like
"there are NO various brands of Cancell that have ever been recognized by the Sheridan family." I love this quote from the Important Notice. Of course the Sheridan family will not recognize another brand of Cancell, they are competitors, The complete story is that I am the only person that uses the term Cancell-like to refer to Cantron and Protocel. I do this so I can combine information about Cantron and Protocel such as how they work which goes on for pages. Both Cantron and Protocel have the same ingredients and work by lowering ATP energy (adenosine triphosphate) just as Cancell had (Cancell is not sold as far as I know). The Cantron manufacturer got the formula from the developer through a mutual friend Don Wilson. If that does not make them Cancell-like then I would like to know what is the definition of the word "like."Any chart that compares Protocel is based on false Information
"... compares the effectiveness of Protocel® against other products. This chart is NOT based on scientific research but merely on one person's opinion." I believe that Bob is referring to my Comparison table:
Besides the complete absurdity of the heading of this section, Bob's statement quoted above is completely false. This is typical of the accuracy of the information that he hands out. If you click on the higher numbers under the Effectiveness or Studies column you will find summaries and references to scientific research papers (all the numbers are linked to the information that the number is based on). If you click on the Effectiveness column heading this definition of the term "Effectiveness" appears:
Effectiveness is the average of how well the treatment did in animal or human trials. If there were no such trials, the treatment gets a middle number like 5. Effectiveness is sometimes based on informal records and case histories. Click on the number to read which types of cancers the treatment is effective against.
Every column is described in this manner so you can get a better understanding of the numbers in each column. When you want the details that went into the number, you can click on the number and be taken to the information upon which the number was based and judge for yourself. This is not an "opinion" as Bob would have you believe. It is a summary of the available information for each treatment in the table. Unlike most summaries the clickable numbers allow you to can find the information upon which the number is based with just one click. Bob would have you abandon this information and listen to his advice which seems to me to be directed towards purchasing more supplements from him regardless of how they conflict with Protocel. I do not sell any supplements.
Bob's implication (in the first paragraph of this section) that "comparative clinical studies" are the only "scientifically significant" method of testing a cancer treatment displays a level of ignorance that is scary. How can a man who claims to have "the ability to give out the BEST possible information about Protocel and the most reliable instructions for using it" not be aware of type of cancer research for which billions of dollars are spent? The vast majority of cancer research being performed around the world (upon which is spent approximately $10 billion) is performed on animals and cancer cells in vitro (test tubes, slides...) not "comparative clinical studies."
Germanium 132 works well with Protocel
I have already commented on this, but will repeat it here. This statement completely misses the point and is typical of the poor information that Bob Esh supplies. Taking Germanium-132 with Protocel is fine (as has been stated on my web site for years). Taking Germanium-132 and Pau d'arco together will interfere with Protocel. This information was given to me by the Protocel chemist advisor.Energy testing as proven unreliable
"Over the years, we have had very negative experiences with people claiming to energy test what the Protocel dosing for a particular person should be or which other supplements are compatible with it." This appears to be a criticism of my Test Kit, but my Test Kit is intended to find the best treatment for an individual from 12 different cancer treatments it has nothing to do with dosage. I do claim that you can use my Test Kit to determine compatibility between different treatments, but why would anyone complain to WebND about some "negative experience" regarding this use of my Test Kit? And what could possibly be a "negative experience" when testing compatibility? If something tested incompatible with Protocel and the person using the test kit decided to follow the test results, they would not take one of the supplements. How could this create a negative experience? This entire section of the Important Notice reads like a fairy tale.Of greatest amazement is that when I asked the Protocel chemist advisor how they found that Germanium-132 and Pau d'arco together with Protocel produced a conflict, he said that they used electrodermal testing. Electrodermal testing was the first form of energy medicine. It is one of the methods (referred to using the newer name Neurofeedback) I recommend to be used with my Test Kit. If you have been to my Test Kit page, under the "Historical Development" section, you can read about the grandfather of energy medicine:
Doctor Reinhold Voll
In the 1950s Doctor Reinhold Voll performed experiments** that measured the electrical characteristics of acupuncture points (now called electrodermal testing). He found that these electrical characteristics changed when a food or substance was placed near a person. The positive or negative change indicated the patients reaction as if they had taken the substance. I could go on and on about similar information, but time is too precious. I hope that it has become as clear to you as it became clear to me years ago that the information produced by Renewal & Wellness (WebND) is nothing you can put any trust in.
WebND Refund Policy
The only emails I have received regarding my Test Kit involved confusion over the instructions and requests to return it over the 60 day refund period. I always let people return the Test Kit regardless of how long they had it so I eventually changed my refund policy to reflect this. My return policy is in stark contrast to the return policy of WebND which states:Any product may be returned within 30 days of its purchase. You must notify us by phone, fax, e-mail or a letter with your desire to return a product. Be sure to list the reason for the return. Provided the product is returned pre-paid and undamaged, with the factory seal unbroken, a refund of the product price will be made, less a 10% restocking fee.
Thank you,
Paul WinterOpen Note to Bob Esh
If you remove your "Important Notice," I will remove all my comments regarding it. Cancer patients and their care givers should not have to spend time on this debate.Legal Statements
